Wednesday, January 26, 2005 Busy... Hmm...life has been very busy of late. Although I was able to be home from M-T of last week after work, I ended up watching a lot of TV. I bought a HDTV receiver for my parents for Christmas, and I am also reaping both the benefits and negative aspects of it. As Jonathan said, "If you have it, it doesn't mean you need to use it." Yes, I agree. Wise words from Jonathan. Anyways, work has been kicking my butt lately. Typically I don't come in on the weekends, but I came in on Sat. to finish up some stuff. I'll be down in Irvine on Thurs. to train some folks, another early flight, 7:30 a.m., and back the same day. I'm kinda' critical path for some projects. I still have insecurities/fears in my engineering abilities, but I am learning and growing as much as I can. WCC has been ramping up exponentially. Early bird registration closed last Friday, and it was interesting that I received calls around midnight. Although I was playing poker after fellowship, it was still unexpected to receive calls. Anyways, I have found joy in answering people's questions in a timely manner, I sometimes am frustrated when I don't have all the answers. People have been bashing the web-site, but to me, since it was done by volunteers, why bash it? Anyways, we average about 1 question for every 3 registrations. So for about 350 registrations, we have like 120 questions. It's been fun all in all. I'm going to take the first stab at housing this Thurs., since we need to submit a prelim housing assignment to the conference center. Sorry for not posting more. I feel like I'm orphaning my readers. Don't worry. A relationship post is on its way. posted by alvin | Wednesday, January 26, 2005 Monday, January 17, 2005 On Being Hungry... Last Friday at RW, we studied Jesus' calling. Basically, once he got baptized to his temptation. One of my fav. verses is "After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry." Matt. 5:2. Jesus had the chance and ability to turn stones into bread, but he chose not to. Anyways, in our discussion we came up with the point that many times in our lives that we get very hungry. Hungry to the point of compromising certain things that are very important to us. When we are "hungry," we tend to be impatient and try to take things into our own control. We need to submit that to God. We need to wait on God. However, there is a super fine-line between waiting and taking action. I tend to stay on the waiting side more often though. Hehe. =P. posted by alvin | Monday, January 17, 2005 Monday, January 10, 2005 Congrats to Jonathan and Kathy Congrats to Jonathan and Kathy on their engagement. It's been an exciting journey for the both of them. It has been awesome to be able to witness their relationship from the days prior to the "RLT" to now being "All-In." God has been very gracious to them. Jonathan has his queen, and Kathy has his king (whoops...I mean, "Ace"). These two have brought me much joy in my life, and I love them very much. I look forward to see how God will bless them and make them in a blessing in their future together. posted by alvin | Monday, January 10, 2005 Some Thoughts... I have been wrestling through some issues and thoughts in the past couple weeks. It has been both refreshing, as I have been putting to closer some issues in my life, and also scary, as I am forced to deal with other issues in my life and step out in faith. One thing that really convicted me yesterday during service was Pastor Paul's idea of being "professional procrastinators" and "professional preparers." I don't think I struggle so much with professional procrastinating, but I think I do struggle with "professional preparing." There are seasons of preparation, and he acknowledge that, but he encouraged us to really step out in faith. His example of people doing the jump rope game, "double dutch" was hilarious. People who keep preparing to go into the jump rope, and look all prepared and such, but eventually never jump into it. Anyways, it really comes down to faith, and taking steps in faith. A good word for me. posted by alvin | Monday, January 10, 2005 Saturday, January 01, 2005 Happy New Year Happy New Year to all my readers. May God bless you in the year to come, and may you be a blessing to others in the year to come. I look forward to the journey that God brings me on this year. posted by alvin | Saturday, January 01, 2005 |
