WCC

Wow. All I can say is wow. Some powerful stuff happened at WCC. The Holy Spirit was definitely present and moved powerfully. Although I have cried at past WCCs, I haven't cried as much as I did than this conference. The emphasis of past WCCs dealt highly with missions, and going abroad. These days the focus has been on realigning a person's inner life and then missions becoming an outpouring of that, in active obedience.

Anyways, the stories and messages were fairly basic. Read the Word, be in meditation, be a radical giver, etc.

However, the testimonies of life transformation and life obedience became much more real to me this year. I don't want to live vicariously through others. I want my own stories of God's power, and of God's working.

How can I have God's power and God's working? It really stems from a love relationship with Christ. A radical, life changing, passionate, and initimate walk with Jesus. Do I hunger for that? Do I thirst after that?

I had to lay down many of my fears. My fears of success in the world's eyes, parental expectations, inadequacies in various areas, vulnerability in building friendships, etc. It feels quite freeing.

One of the key takeaways for me is that of refreshment. Jimmy shared about many leaders will pull back when ministry is difficult. He encouraged us to push in instead of pulling back. Push through....push through. For me, currently ministry hasn't been that life giving, but the core of the reason comes from the lack of the strong intimate relationship with Christ. How do I have anything to give others when I'm only meeting with Christ for 15-30 min. a day? Boo.

So, I'm resolved to stop messing around at nighttime, and be more intentional about getting to bed earlier, so that I can wake up earlier to hear God's voice.

The 2nd resolution, is to look to get involved with the International Students ministry. I have heard about the organzation in the past, but haven't taken steps to get involved.

3rd...I'm going to push through. No more mediocre stuff. No more just getting by. There is no such thing as getting by with Jesus.

Please keep me accountable. =P.

Clouds...

In the midst of driving to the cafeteria today for lunch, I took a look at the clouds. When it rains, and then gets sunny, the clouds look very interesting. They don't look all fluffy and nice, but they look kinda' lumpy and full.

I was happening to make a left when it caught my eye. It brought me to thinking just how cool a creator God is. It reminded me of WCC2004 with Bob Sjojgren and his thoughts on "Cat and Dog Theology." The takeaway, "take time to appreciate the things the creator creates."

Anyways, been fairly busy at work and life these days. I'm looking forward to WCC. I been thinking about what God has in store for me there. It has been a challenge to stay on top of things, and answer so many questions, but all in all, it has been good. I have been praying for the right attitudes as I serve. I have been complaining/whining more than normal. =P.
